Worrisome

The investigation into the Malegaon bomb blasts has yielded astounding results: there have been nine arrests so far from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. The terror network is extensive, well-funded, welded by hatred. Hindu samitis and sanghs are proliferating. Their membership is made up mostly of young men. Their method of protest is always violent. The irony is: the agencies involved in cracking and busting these groups have been nabbing the wrong people in the name of war on terror.

Hasan-ul-Huzaibi,

Pune

The rise of Hindu fundamentalism will result in the total breakdown of society. The alleged penetration of our security forces by radical religious groups is scary. One hopes Lt. Col. Shrikant Purohit is an aberration. The Indian Army is apolitical, secular and, above all, highly professional. It is the nation’s last resort. We have to safeguard its integrity at any cost. A stern warning should go from all right-thinking citizens to reckless politicians and religious fanatics to stay away from the soldiers, who are precious to our country.

Major Mathew Oommen,

Pune
