Prologue

The article “Obama wonder and Bush blunder” (Nov. 11) was extremely impressive. It was an auspicious prologue for Mr. Obama’s presidential innings from an eminent Indian legal stalwart. America has been hegemonic and belligerent in the last 10 years. It is for Mr. Obama to restore good governance.

R. Raghunathan,

Chennai

There are many lessons for us in Mr. Obama’s victory. The foremost was the interest of the have-nots and the youth to participate in the election and vote for a change. The young in India should participate in the elections and bring about the much-needed change. Evading responsibility and blaming society will not solve any problem. They will, in fact, lead to further deterioration. Most of our educated and employed citizens do not vote but indulge in empty rhetoric. It is time they performed their duty. They can change the system only through the ballot.

M.S.R.A. Srihari,

Khammam

Mr. Obama’s strength lies not in self-belief but in his ability to communicate effectively with others; not in rhetoric but in articulation; and not in experience but in the lack of it. Surely, if Americans can, we too can.

S. Sudhir Kumar,

Hyderabad
