Birsa Munda Advances

GURGAON: Birsa Munda Vidyapitha beat Government Model Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh, 1-0 to reach the semifinals of the 37th Nehru junior hockey tournament at the Nehru Stadium here on Tuesday. Bipin Kishore Kerketta scored the lone goal (49th minute) of the Group D match.

In the semifinals, Birsa Munda will meet Young Pioneer English School, Imphal, on Thursday.

In a Group A encounter, Ravisher Singh (36th, 47th) and Kawar Subeg Singh (43rd, 44th) netted a brace each as Spring Dales Senior Secondary School, Amritsar, posted a 4-3 win over Army Boys Sports Coy, BRC, Danapur.

Army team’s Binay Bhengra (2nd, 45th and 54th) struck a hat-trick which went in vain.

Ajay Singh (3rd), Harsimranjit Singh (33rd), Bachitar Singh (44th) and Ramanbir Singh (55th) scored a goal apiece to guide Dhudial Khalsa Higher Secondary School, Patiala, to a 4-0 victory over Sri Lanka School XI in a Group C match. — Sports Reporter
