CHIKMAGALUR: M.L. Murthy, vice-president of the Chikmagalur District Congress Committee, has said that a protest will be organised against striking doctors of government hospital if they do not attend to life-threatening cases and post-mortems. Mr. Murthy told presspersons here on Wednesday that doctors should not forget their commitment to society however legitimate their claims to strike work might be. He blamed the Health Minister for not holding discussions with the doctors in spite of being served a notice 45 days ago. With regard to the power shortage, he criticised the Energy Minister K.S. Eshwarappa for failing to anticipate the problem and for the delay in finding alternative sources. He said that the State Government had also failed to anticipate the shortage in fertilizers and seeds. Pointing out the Government had promised that road repairs would be taken up after the rainy season, he said the Government should not mislead the people. K.T. Radhakrishna, president of the district unit of the BSP, spoke.
