BANGALORE: Activities were suspended for a while and panic gripped at the Karnataka Board of the Pre-University Education and Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) on Wednesday when they opened a letter informing them of a bomb being places in the premises. Police suspect that the letter was sent by students from Hubli. The Malleswaram police said board officials had received a letter through courier from Hubli on Tuesday evening. Upon receiving a call, the Malleswaram police rushed to the scene with a dog squad and a bomb disposal squad. However, no explosives were found. Murder case solvedThe Malleswaram police have arrested Chetan C. Shetty, a diploma holder in Electronic Communication, in connection with the murder of Radha (40) at Malleswaram 18th Cross on September 26. The accused is a resident of Ashwath Nagar, hails from Sanjeev Castle on Telecom House Road in Pandeshwar, Mangalore. After coming to Bangalore to study at M.S. Ramaiah College in 2002, he started a data service centre along with his friends. He was reportedly in debt and had resorted to robbery to repay the loans, the police said. He robbed Radha of jewellery estimated at Rs. 3 lakh, a mobile phone and Rs. 15,000 in cash. The accused was arrested in Mangalore and brought to the city, sources said. Meanwhile, the Whitefield police have arrested an accused and claim to have solved the murder of Gafar, a carpenter from Uttar Pradesh, who was murdered on October 29. The incident came to light on November 2. “We have arrested Meharujuddin Jaan Mohammad (20), a native of Rasulpur in Uttar Pradesh, on the basis of evidence collected from the scene of crime.” The police said that they had fought over money. KilledA 35-year-old man, whose identity is unknown, was murdered on 9th Main in Pipeline near Vijayanagar on Tuesday night around 11.30 p.m. He was stabbed on the chest and the man died on the spot, Vijaynagar police said. Killed in accidentGangammal (65), a native of Villupuram in Tamil Nadu, died on the spot when a pickup cab of a private company rammed into her near Silk Board Junction around 5 a.m. on Wednesday. The accident occurred when she was crossing Hosur Road near Gokaldas, said Madivala Traffic police.
