Book exhibition begins

With keen interest: Students having a look at the book exhibition in Salem on Thursday. —

SALEM: The two-day book exhibition, organised jointly by the Tamil Nadu Science Forum and Gokulanatha Hindu Mahajana Higher Secondary School, has begun on the school premises.

Over 1,000 books on various subjects including animals, science, environment, gender issues, general knowledge, politics, water, solar system and life sciences are on display. The objective of the exhibition, organised in connection to the Children’s Day celebrations, was to motivate students to develop the habit of reading, organisers said.

School Correspondent S. Sriraaman inaugurated the exhibition. Indian Overseas Bank Chief Manager Murugappan gave a special lecture and interacted with the students. He also inaugurated an exhibition of children photos.

Forum’s Salem District Vice-Present K. Pandian conducted an origami session and joint secretary Damodaran conducted a demonstration on solar system. Headmaster V. Gnanasekaran and postgraduate assistant R. Sasikala spoke.
