Sikh boys try their hand at tying the turban competition at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj on the occasion of ‘Guru Purab’ in New Delhi on Thursday. Amritsar: Several people, including women and children, on Thursday paid obeisance in the sanctum sanctorum of the Harmandhar Sahib (Golden Temple), the Sikh shrine in the holy city of Amritsar, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. Since early morning, devotees in hundreds queued up to pay obeisance in the sanctum sanctorum of the Temple and at the Akal Takht (highest Sikh temporal seat). Before paying obeisance, devotees took holy dip in the sacred tank of Temple. Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his wife Surinder Kaur Badal also paid obeisance at the Temple. Mr. Badal and his wife went to the community kitchen of the Temple where they distributed food to the visiting devotees and had the food. PTI
