Small wonders: Students presenting a Manipuri folk dance at St. Joseph’s Convent High School, Adilabad on Friday. - ADILABAD: Schools in Adilabad wore a festive look on Friday as cultural and other programmes were organised during in connection with Children’s Day celebrations on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister. At the Little Star High School, teachers presented cultural items while the students became the audience. Skits on different subjects like child labour and duty mindedness were presented by teachers besides some cultural programmes. At the St. Joseph’s Convent High School, students participated in fancy dress competitions and presented dance items. The Manipuri folk dance presented by high school students was a special attraction. The New York Life Insurance company sponsored prizes for these competitions. Vasudha Foundation representatives in town distributed blankets to the inmates of the Asha Jyoti school for mentally challenged and health centre, Ramnagar. Students enthralNizamabad Staff Reporter writes: Dramas and cultural programmes on patriotism and paying rich tributes to Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru were staged by children of different schools at the Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium, venue of the Children’s Day celebrations. The auditorium was packed to its capacity and the audience cheered the children right through their performances. The celebrations were inaugurated by Zilla Parishad Chairman Taher Bin Hamdan. A photo exhibition on wild birds was organised by the Maya Foundation . Fete organisedKarimnagar Staff Reporter adds: The Children’s Day was celebrated with much pomp in various schools of the district on Friday. In Challenger High school in Karimnagar town, students took part in traditional and fancy dress competitions. At Bhagavathi High School, the students enacted their teachers and conducted the classes as part of the self-governance concept. On the other hand, the teachers presented cultural programmes and entertained the students. They also conducted fancy dress competitions for the students. At Laurel High School, senior students set up food stalls and organised amusing games for students.
