Call for reforms in education

NARSAPUR: G. Haragopal, retired professor of University of Hyderabad, on Friday commented that the education system failed to respond to the needs of the society.

Speaking at a seminar on ‘Challenges to higher education today’ held here under the aegis of the Gandhian Study Centre, Sri. Y.N. College, he pointed out that the education system was market-driven and aimed at fulfilling the economic agenda and the needs of the developed nations. He highlighted the need to bring in reforms in higher education to suit the present needs of the country.
