‘Felicitation of select individuals not fair’

Bangalore: Kannada writer Kamala Hampana has said that it is not right on the part of the Government to felicitate select persons “who struggled to get classical status to the Kannada language” with a gold medal weighing 20 gm each on November 30 as the entire State has supported the cause.

In a press release issued here on Friday, Prof. Hampana said that the struggle to get the historical status for the Kannada language was a collective effort of all Kannada-speaking people though individual contributions could not be ignored.

But it did not mean that only 100 persons were solely responsible for the honour, she said
