Woman creates flutter in hospital

Staff Reporter

KHAMMAM: Doctors of a private hospital were in for a rude shock as a woman from Munigepalli village came with a demand for her child.

She claimed to have delivered a baby in the hospital and said the baby was missing. Carried away by her version, a mob surrounded the hospital and blamed the management for not handing over the baby to her mother.

Her husband lodged a complaint also with the police, who promptly verified the records of the hospital only to find that the woman had never undergone any treatment in the hospital.

The presence of the police on the scene, however, could help avert an attack on the hospital. Though the hospital handed over all its records for verification, it did not help resolve the issue.

As a way out the woman was sent for ultra-sound test, which proved it to be a false claim.

She was diagnosed as a case of ‘pseudocyesis’ – false pregnancy. The woman was under the impression that she was pregnant. Though her relatives relented, the hospital management as well as the IMA, Khammam branch, took strong exception to the blame game.
