Joint Director Fisheries to meet fishermen

Special Correspondent

At Vedaranyam on Tuesday

NAGAPATTINAM: Following the State government’s order to conduct an enquiry into the alleged firing by the Sri Lankan navy on fishermen off the Kodiakkarai coast a few days back, Joint Director (Fisheries) R. Thillai Govindan will meet fishermen at Vedaranyam on Tuesday.

In a press release, Mr. Govindan said that he would listen to all complaints from local fishermen between 10 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Fisheries Department Inspector’s office in Vedaranyam.

Those who would not be able to make it to the meeting at the Fisheries Department Inspector’s office could write to the Regional Office at No. 75, Santhome High Road, Rajah Annamalaipuram, Chennai-28, addressed to Joint Director (Fisheries) before November 20, he said.

Public cooperation

Since he wanted to complete the enquiry before November 24, he asked the public to co-operate and present their views to him at the earliest.
