284 group houses to be constructed

KARUR: A total of 284 group houses would be constructed in 18 village panchayats in the Thanthoni Panchayat Union during the current financial year at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.56 crore.

The houses were being constructed under the Indra Awas Yojana.

The Government was providing Rs. 55,000 to each of the beneficiaries under the scheme. So far 163 houses have been completed and the rest were nearing completion.

Officials have been directed to expedite the construction and meet the target within the stipulated time, a press release issued here by the District Collector J. Uma Maheswari noted.
