TUTICORIN: ‘Bhoomi puja’ was performed to construct a new corporation building on an outlay of Rs. 4.75 crore near the old bus stand here. Speaking on the occasion, Social Welfare Minister P. Geetha Jeevan said that the building construction would be completed in a year. The Minister said that the government had allotted Rs. 16.98 crore for providing basic amenities and taking up improvement works in the civic body with immediate effect. R. Kasthuri Thangam, Mayor, Thommai Jesu Adiyan, Deputy Mayor, R. Lakshmi, Corporation Commissioner, and S. A. Rajagopal, Executive Engineer, were present.
