BJP trying to get Venkatachala into the party

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is now trying to get the former Lokayukta M.N. Venkatachala to join it.

Disclosing this to reporters after inducting some taluk panchayat members from other parties in Kolar district into the party in Bangalore on Saturday, BJP State unit president D.V. Sadananda Gowda said he had personally spoken to Mr. Venkatachala in this regard. “I called on him at his residence and he is positive,” Mr. Gowda said.

He said the BJP organisation would get a boost if a person like Mr. Venkatachala, who waged a war against corruption, joined it.

Exodus predicted

Mr. Gowda said some other prominent leaders from other parties in Kolar district would soon join the BJP.

But he desisted from disclosing their names.
