Mahout trampled to death

CHAMARAJANAGAR: A mahout was trampled to death by a tusker at K. Gudi Elephant Camp in Chamarajanagar taluk on Saturday.

The incident occurred when the mahout of five-year-old Ketha went to Chamarajanagar. He asked another mahout, Boda, to feed the elephant. Enraged by the absence of his mahout, Ketha attacked Boda and trampled him to death.

The elephant did not allow anybody to go near the body for sometime.

Forest officials drove the elephant away by bursting firecrackers.
