PUDUCHERRY: Seven artists, all students of Masters of Fine Arts from Government Arts College, Chennai, have presented their artistic works at a 16-day exhibition in Puducherry. The exhibition, titled “Shades of Delight” was opened on November 15 and would go on till November 30 at Gallery Square Circle, Auroville. Artists Kamal, Ramakrishna, Radja, Saravanan, Gurunathan, Kiran and Sakthi have put up a total of 120 paintings at the exhibition. The paintings have been kept for sale with the price starting from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 1.20 lakh, said Sakthi, one of the artists. Of them, three belonged to Puducherry and the rest were from Chennai. The mediums of the works included water colours, oil and acrylic. Kamal’s works centre around boats, fish and fisherfolks, while Ramakrishna has portrayed daily scenes of villages in his works. Artist Radja has portrayed different facets of reality in paintings, portraits, landscape and still life compositions, while Saravanan explores new dimensions and thoughts through his works. Paintings in black and white govern the work of Gurunathan, while Kiran draws inspiration from aerial landscapes. Abstract compositions and shades of colours comprise Sakthi’s works.
