TTD gears up for Tiruchanur fete

Special Correspondent

Executive Officer inspects works ahead of Brahmotsavam

Huge crowds expected during 9-day festival

Digital screens to be set up at vantage points

TIRUPATI: With less than ten days to go for the start of the Navaratri Brahmotsavam in the temple of goddess Padmavati at Tiruchanur, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam’s official machinery is being geared up for an impressive conduct of the nine-day festival which would attract a huge congregation from all over.

To ensure speedy completion of the various on-going works in and around the temple after the TTD’s massive anti-encroachment drive, Executive Officer K.V. Ramanachary on Saturday inspected the works underway to widen the roads, readying the vahana mandapam and such other facilities ahead of the fete.

The roads have been widened and re-laid, projections removed, drains rebuilt so as to ensure a hassle-free movement of the temple processions (vahanams) and the temple chariot on the day of ‘Theru’.

Mr. Ramanachary asked the officials to install at all vantage points ‘digital screens’ for the benefit of the pilgrims to witness the temple processions and rituals through the closed-circuit television network.

Flower show

A flower show would be arranged at the ‘Friday Garden’ located close to the temple of the goddess to serve as an added attraction to the visiting pilgrims.

The security and annadanam officials were asked to be prepared to meet the peak influx of pilgrims on the ‘Chakrasnanam’ -- concluding day to take a holy dip in the temple tank.

Among the officials accompanying the Executive Officer during the inspection were TTD Chief Engineer, V.S.B. Koteswara Rao, Deputy Executive Officer, Chengalrayalu, S.E, Ramesh Reddy and the DSP (urban), Gangaraju.
