“Shiv Shankar’s remarks in bad taste”

HYDERABAD: The Congress party has said that it was unbecoming of a senior leader like P. Shiv Shankar to make highly critical remarks against the party president Sonia Gandhi.

“A man, who was only an advocate in 1978 was given the party ticket and made a Union Minister by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He rose to dizzy heights serving as Union Minister for a decade and Governor for two terms. Is it right on his part to level charges against the party chief,” Government Chief Whip N. Kiran Kumar Reddy questioned at a press conference on Sunday.

Reacting sharply to the remarks that the AICC chief had no moral value, Mr. Reddy said it was unfortunate that a veteran leader, who made it big during Congress rule should criticise its leadership.

“How can a leader, who was repeatedly given ticket despite losing successive elections, fault our leadership,” he wondered.
