dated November 17, 1958: Coup in Venezuela

A New York Radio station reported on November 15 that the Venezuelan Government to-day foiled a revolutionary plot. The Radio said that half a dozen army officers had been arrested and others were being sought. Rear-Admiral Wolfgang Larrazabal, President of Venezuela’s ruling Junta, formally resigned on November 14 to be free to take part in the campaign for the Presidential election next month. Dr. Edgard Sanabria, a member of the Junta, was appointed as the new head of the five-man Junta.
