Need to protect environment stressed

Inquisitive minds: Students looking at models on display at the Holy Cross Expo ‘08 in Salem.

SALEM: A special exhibition aimed at raising awareness on global warming and reduction of carbon dioxide emissions was held the Holy Cross Matriculation Higher Secondary School here.

Students from the school displayed a large number of working models explaining the adverse impacts of global warming and the need to protect and conserve the environment.

They urged the visitors to learn to save energy on a daily basis, and help save the environment.

Students had made interactive and creative models and made presentations to stress the importance of protecting the nature.

The exhibition also had models and charts explaining the development of information and communication technology, mathematics, the origin of earth, mineral resources, natural resources and languages. In all, the exhibition had over 700 working models and charts.

A large number of students from schools and colleges in the city and general public visited the exhibition.

Chief Educational Officer P. Ramaraj had inaugurated the exhibition on Thursday. School Principal Brother Assis Simoes and teachers were present to motivate the students.
