Congress plays welfare sop card

Minister lists out Congress achievements

Rs. 5 lakh to each panchayat for unanimous election of sarpanch

Ramayampet MPDO to be built at a cost of Rs. 55 lakh

SANGAREDDY: Minister for Panchayat Raj J.C. Diwakar Reddy on Monday called upon the people to vote for the Congress party so that welfare measures like free power to farming sector and Jalayagnam may continue.

Addressing a gathering at Ramayampet after laying foundation stone for mandal parishad development office (MPDO) at an estimated Rs. 55 lakh, Mr. Diwakar Reddy said that it was possible for the Congress party alone to make a success of welfare schemes.

Stating that the government has decided to release Rs. 5 lakh to each panchayat which has unanimously elected its sarpanch, the Minister said that Rs. 150 crore was allocated by the State government for this purpose.

He said that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy would distribute them on November 29 in Hyderabad. Referring to various developmental schemes being implemented by the government, Mr. Diwakar Reddy said that none of the State governments across the nation have been able to implement such schemes.

Dig at Chiru

Making an oblique dig at Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi, he said: ``Every politician is claiming that he belongs to the farming community. People are finding this ridiculous.”

Minister for Cooperation Mohd. Fariduddin explained about the welfare measures taken up by the government and said that the district would benefit by Jalayagnam.

Zilla Parishad chairman M. Balaiah, district Collector Peeyush Kumar and MLA P. Sasidhar Reddy participated.
