DINDIGUL: “Please unite my parents who live separately and help me to live peacefully. At present, I am languishing in my grandparents’ residence. I am not able to concentrate on my studies, owing to agony.” This appeal was made by T. Raghul, eighth standard student of Thambithottam Government Higher Secondary School at Chinnalapatti, near here, in a petition submitted to Collector R. Vasuki at a grievance day meeting held here on Monday. He also requested her to depute a lawyer to handle a case against his grandfather. “My rich grandfather will certainly win the case with his money power and separate my father and mother permanently. I have saved Rs.37. Please keep this amount and arrange a lawyer for me to fight the case,” he said in the petition. Rahul said that he was left in a hostel run by Backward Classes Welfare Department at Chinnalapatti to continue his studies. “Earlier, I used to score more than 400 marks. Now, my marks have fallen below 350. My grandparents have been pestering me not to go with my mother. If I attempt to go with her, they threaten to kill me. My father, who is a fruit seller in Chennai, has stopped visiting my grandparents. My mother was forced to leave our home. My sister is left alone with my grandparents,” he said. The Collector immediately ordered the officials of Backward Classes Welfare Department to conduct an enquiry and submit a report for action.
