Maoists kill village head in Orissa

MAKLANGIRI (ORISSA): After a gap of almost three months, Maoists struck on Monday gunning down a village head in Orissa’s Malkangiri district and looting the house of another person, police said.

The incident took place at Binaykpur under Motu police station area, about 100 km from here in the early hours.

The victim, Panda Reddy, 40, was asked to come out of the house and taken to a jungle where he was shot dead, police said. Panda was involved in a land dispute between two groups of villagers and the Maoists suspected that he was a police informer. – PTI
