Actor Jayasudha’s press conference on the Children’s Day turned out to be quite a new experience for the journalists of the print and electronic media. The charming lady showed no unease in handling the wide range of questions that the reporters shot at her, and whenever there were any searching posers or supplementaries, her standard line was: “you did not quite understand me.” She even went a step ahead and rated the film journalists to be a lot better than political journalists. “They don’t drag an issue like this,” she remarked. But, the real googly came when the lady, who is known for playing some strong characters on screen and is considered to be a person of steely nature in real life too, used the ‘brahmastram’ to stop a reporter from shooting more questions: “You can’t do this to a woman”! Mega waitMore cars and vans are seen these days at the Praja Rajyam office located near Benz Circle for various reasons. The foremost reason is that the party chief has got a roaring reception in his ongoing tour in Rayalaseema. Not just fans, even second-rung leaders in various parties are thronging the party office in a steady flow. Seeing the rising demand, the party office is overjoyed naturally. Eventually, they talk about the party president’s visit to Krishna district, which will really bring out what is in store for the party in the next elections. Second or third week of December is being mentioned as the probable period when Chiranjeevi will visit the district. A long wait, indeed, for local leaders, who are more worried about positions that await them in the light of the likely joining of senior leaders in the coming days. Real treatA first person account of an inspiring tale of success of a 22-year-old engineering graduate with a congenital blindness was a real treat offered by the management of K.C.P. Siddhartha Adarsh Residential School at Kanuru to its students on the occasion of Children’s Day. The celebrations began with sports and games actively participated by students and teachers, followed by a workshop on personality development in the afternoon session. The essence of the celebrations, however, was seen only in the concluding session that saw the visually challenged J. Nagababu churning out tales of the strength of his mind that helped him achieve what was otherwise perceived ‘unattainable’. “We want our children to desist from taking things for granted. It is important for them to recognise the blessings bestowed upon them. I want them to inculcate the boldness with which Nagababu has fought the odds,” said an enthusiastic principal S. Chandrasekhar. His objective was apparently realised in the manner in which the awe-struck students listened to Nagababu in rapt attention. It stinksThe Dandamudi Rajagopal Rao indoor stadium is the most sought after venue for sports administrators to host both State and National events. The stadium will soon be witnessing national sub-junior table tennis championship. But one area of concern is the poor upkeep of toilets built close to the courts and the unbearable stench emanating from there often proved to be a topic discussion among the players and parents. In fact, the toilets should have been built outside the stadium during the construction of the stadium itself. Hope the civic administration takes up repair works at the toilets to enable the players to enjoy their outing sans intolerable bad odour. ( K. Srimali, G. Ravikiran, P. Sujatha Varma and J. R. Shridharan)
