SALEM: For the second time in a fortnight the land line telephones of Salem BSNL in New Farilands, Swarnapuri, Four Roads and Five Roads went dead for a day after its underground optical fibre cable at Meiyyanoor was damaged on Tuesday. Just a fortnight ago the telephone lines in Fairlands remained dead for three days when the underground cable, opposite to the Fairlands Police Station was found damaged. Lack of coordination among various Government agencies of both State and BSNL is said to be the main reason behind this. According to sources in Salem BSNL Telecom, the high sensitive optical fibre cables were often damaged in the city.
