KSRTC chain services from today

On the Kasaragod-Mangalapuram inter-State route

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will commence chain services in the Kasaragod-Mangalapuram inter-State route from Wednesday.

The 44 round-trips using 11 buses are being introduced as part of the IVth Supplementary Inter-State Agreement signed between the Governments of Kerala and Karnataka on August 25 this year.

Sources in the KSRTC said the chain services were in addition to the ones being operated using 14 buses.

With the introduction of 11 new buses, the KSRTC will be able to operate 184 trips as chain services.

The KSRTC will also commence four bus services from Wednesday. This includes the Thrikaripur-Mangalapuram airport (two buses), Kasaragod-Mansa (via Mangalapuram) and Kasaragod-Kattayil (via Mangalapuram).

The corporation will deploy the new Malabar buses for all the 15 new services. The trips will be operated by KSRTC every five minutes.

Minister for Transport Mathew T. Thomas will inaugurate the chain services at a function to be held at the KSRTC bus station at Kasaragod at 11.30 a.m.

As per the agreement between the two States, the State Road Transport Corporation of Karnataka will also have to operate 60 round trips using 20 buses.
