Murders not deliberate, says ex-beauty queen

Meerut/Lucknow: Priyanka, a former beauty queen who has been arrested on the charge of murdering her parents, was driven to committing the act after being ill-treated by her mother, it was suggested on Tuesday.

“My mother [Santosh] abused me. She said ‘so what if I had been raped?’ It happens. She raised her hand on me, which is when I placed my hand on her neck and pressed. I didn’t kill her deliberately,” Priyanka, who along with her friend Anju, was sent to 14-day judicial custody by a local court on Tuesday, told CNN-IBN.

Priyanka confessed, according to police, that she was depressed following the misbehaviour of her parents, who named her brother Gaurav in their will.

SP Meerut City Rakesh Jolly said that on the day of the incident Priyanka wanted to confess to her mother about the way she was leading her life.

But her mother did not listen and made certain remarks, “which probably infuriated her,” Mr. Jolly said. — PTI
