ANU executive council meeting to be held on November 27

Building committee to meet on the campus tomorrow

Decision on modern cooking centre to be taken


GUNTUR: Acharya Nagarjuna University Executive Committee meeting will be held in Hyderabad on November 27, according to Vice-Chancellor Y.R. Haragopala Reddy.

The executive committee would mainly discuss the need for additional buildings on the campus for accommodating students joining new courses and related laboratories.

The Vice-Chancellor said that to provide a realistic picture to executive council, the building committee would meet on the campus on Friday.

Main issues to be discussed at the EC meeting would be implementation of some of the academic reforms, providing new facilities to the students in the hostels and improving total available space for students in hostels on the campus.

One of the major decisions to be taken are building a modern cooking centre attached to a 600-seater dining hall so that all the residents of boys hostel could have their food at a time.

New buildings were being proposed for Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry and a 24-room Guest House.

Incomplete rooms construction of Satavahana Hostel would also be discussed at the meeting on ANU on Friday.

Inter-University South Zone Men’s Kabaddi tournament will be organised on the ANU campus from Saturday till Tuesday next for which teams from 39 universities from all over South India will participate in it.

The non-teaching staff union VIKASA has meanwhile, demanded a discussion on compassionate appointments due to medical invalidation as per G.O. 661 of October 23, and its adoption for university services.

Chiranjeevi Students’ Federation has asked the State Government to quickly consider reiumbersement of college fee to all students of Kapu caste, which was promised by the Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, but implementation was being delayed.
