This Day That Age
Against the grim background of the Tower of London, the old fortress where so many great Englishmen languished in ancient times, is spun the lively tale of Gilbert and Sullivan opera called “The Yeomen of the Guard” which is being presented on November 20 at the Annamalai Hall by the Madras Musical Association. The orchestra conducted by the expert Handel Manuel, do full justice to Sullivan’s music. The production is by David Green who has followed the London tradition. The Madras Musical Association, which was itself founded in 1893, deserves full credit for mounting a delightful opera which children as well as adults will enjoy.
