Hafed reaching out to other states

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation has started marketing its products in western states of the country and the first distributor has been appointed for Bhavnagar (Gujarat).

An official spokesman said here on Wednesday that the first consignment of rice had been despatched for Bhavnagar.

He said HAFED consumer products -- Basmati rice, non-Basmati rice, ‘Kachchi Ghani’ mustard oil, refined soyabean oil, refined cottonseed oil, branded sugar, desi wheat, organic wheat and desi wheat atta -- are quite popular in the markets of Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Delhi, Bangalore, West Bengal, Orissa, Jammu and Kashmir.

He claimed that HAFED products were so popular in the market that the sales had doubled in the first six months of this financial year in comparison to the previous year.

HAFED Basmati rice is also being regularly exported to Australia, he added.
