One killed as car hits lorry

TIRUCHI: A 30-year-old man died and seven others sustained injuries when the car in which they were travelling collided head-on with a lorry on the Tiruchi–Thuraiyur main road at Karattampatti on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as S. Riyaz Khan (30) of Alwarthoppu in Tiruchi. A group of eight people were returning in the car to Tiruchi from Puliancholai when it rammed a banana-laden lorry that was coming from the opposite direction. Riyaz Khan, an occupant of the car, died on the way to Thuraiyur Government Hospital.
