Special Correspondent

Udhagamandalam: A tea tasting session of The Golden Leaf India Awards: Southern Tea Competition will be organised on the sidelines of the three-day Tea and Coffee World Cup Asia which got under way at Hyderabad on Thursday.

Stating this in a press note issued at Coonoor, N. Dharmaraj, Convener, Organising Committee, TGLIA: STC, said that the session will be organised on Friday.

The TGLIA competition and showcasing of the entries have considerably improved the image of the South Indian teas.

The objective of the session at the Tea and Coffee World Cup Asia was to provide an opportunity to the participants to get a first hand feel of the quality of the South Indian teas. At the session, three TGLIA winners in categories like CTC Leaf, Fanning and Dust would be tasted along with Kenyan teas. A similar process would be gone through for Orthodox teas along with Sri Lankan teas.
