KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley came to a standstill on Thursday as protests were held to highlight the death of two youths, who were allegedly killed by the Young Communist League (YCL). Sportspersons Pushkar Dangol and Nirmal Pant were abducted more than a month ago and their bodies were found in a field in Dhading district on Tuesday. Protests were held on Wednesday and continued on Thursday. The protesters chanted anti-Maoist slogans and demanded the Home Minister’s resignation. At Thamel, YCL clashed with the Youth Force, the CPN (UML)’s youth wing. The Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) have condemned the killings and demanded that YCL be dismantled. YCL chief Ganesh Man Pun has denied YCL’s involvement. The government has agreed to give compensation to the victims’ families.
