Picketing agitation on November 25

TIRUCHI: An all party meeting convened by the Communist Party of India (CPI) here on Thursday decided to hold picketing agitation in five centres in the district on November 25 to press the demand for ceasefire in Sri Lanka.

The picketing will be held in Tiruchi city, Manapparai, Lalgudi, Musiri and Thuraiyur.

Procession

The cadres of various parties will march in a procession from Periyar Statue near Central Bus Stand in the city to the Railway Junction, where they will picket the trains, a resolution adopted at the meeting said.

Another resolution urged the Centre to bring pressure on the Sri Lankan Government to declare a ceasefire.

The district secretary of the CPI, T. Indirajit presided over the meeting. The state committee member of the CPI, M. Selvaraj, urban district secretary of the MDMK, A. Malarmannan; the district secretary of the PMK, Umanath; the urban district secretary of the Puthiya Tamizhagam, K. Sankar, district president of the Tamizhar Desiya Iyakkam, Pulivalam Sozharajan; the district president of the Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam, C. T. Rajendran, and other leaders participated in the meeting.
