Better known as differently abled

Competition to bring out hidden talents



Colours of life: Boys and girls displaying their talent in the painting competition conducted by Round Table India and Ladies Circle India.

TIRUCHI: It is not without reason that the disabled people are better known as differently abled.

All they need to bring out their hidden potential is the right opportunity. ‘Taare Zameen Par’ painting competition was one such opportunity provided by Round Table India and the Ladies Circle India in association with Apeejay Oxford Bookstores Private Limited in connection with Children’s Day. The main objective of the competition conducted in 75 centres all over the country was to make them feel certain that they are important to the country. There were 5,000 participants.

In Tiruchi city, the Tiruchi Round Table No. 54 and the Tiruchi Ladies Circle No. 33 organised the competition on behalf their respective parent bodies. Over 100 differently-abled children of Spastic Society and Vidivelli Special School took part.

Former Rotary International district governor Gnanadurai Michael, the chief guest at the valediction, gave away prizes to the winners. Chairman of the Tiruchi Round Table No. 54 Raja and chairperson of the Tiruchi Ladies Circle No. 33 Mala Balasubramanian explained the salient feature of the projects.
