KAIKALURU (Krishna dt): Congress MLA Y. Raja Ramachander on Friday created a mild flutter in political circles for some time by announcing his resignation as MLA in protest against the “officials’ apathy towards housing for the poor”, but backtracked within no time. ‘Similar drama’The MLA, who had enacted a similar drama on a couple of occasions earlier too, announced his resignation at a press conference on the grounds that the Andhra Pradesh Housing Corporation Managing Director R. Subrahmanyam, who reviewed the pace of works under Indiramma housing, had failed to initiate action against the officials who did not discharge their duties properly. Mr. Raja Ramachander has been agitating over the issue of irregularities and delay in execution of Indiramma houses. Supporters arriveNo sooner the MLA talked about his decision to resign than his supporters arrived in big numbers and exerted pressure on him to change his mind. Accepts suggestionThey told him that a decision for collective resignations should be taken after a thorough discussion on Saturday. The MLA quickly accepted their suggestion. Sources said the MLA was later “counselled” by his followers not to make such hasty announcements.
