YSR to lay stone for Pranahita project

The facility will stabilise power supply in Medak, Nizamabad, RR district, Hyderabad

Power generated at Ramagundam will be supplied to Hyderabad through this substation

SANGAREDDY: The 400-KV substation being built at Kodakandla in Gajwel mandal is all set for inauguration on November 28.

Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy will inaugurate the substation during his visit to the district. He will also lay the foundation stone for the much-publicised Pranahita-Chevella Lift Irrigation project.

The substation is the first of its kind in the State, which will step-down power supply from 400 KV to 220 KV and also to 130 KV. In normal case, the stepping-down is done from 400KV to 220 KV only.

Taken up with an estimated cost of Rs. 400 crore, the substation will stabilise the power supply in four districts including Medak, Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad.

The power being generated at Ramagundam will be supplied to Hyderabad through this sub-station after its inauguration.

The newly established substation will address problems like low voltage, interruptions and overloading at Siddipet area and will be ready to take more loads.

“It will be useful for industrial development in the district with the increase in voltage profile,” said CPDCL Superintending Engineer K.M. Nagender.

Many a time in the past, Major Industries Minister J. Geeta Reddy said that completion of the 400-KV substation would address power problem in the district to a major extent in addition to stabilising power supply in the neighbouring districts. She claimed that it would give boost industrial growth in the district.
