Two-day youth festival begins

VIZIANAGARAM: Collector G. Ram Narayana Reddy inaugurated the two-day district-level Yuvajanotsav being organised by the Youth Services Department at M.R. Government Music and Dance College on Friday.

After lighting the lamp and garlanding the portrait of Swamy Vivekananda, the Collector said that the objective of the youth festival was to provide a platform for artistes to perform and exhibit their talent. He hoped that the aspirants would bring laurels to the district with their performance in the State and national-level competitions. Principal of the college Anuradha Parasuram said that in all 48 entries were received for the first and second day events in Carnatic and Hindusthani vocal, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak and Odissy, folk dance and songs.

Competitions in flute, veena, sitar, mrudangam, gitar and tabla, elocution, martial arts and mono action would be conducted on Saturday.
