VIZIANAGARAM: Auxiliary Nurse Midwives and doctors posted at primary health centres in the district have been warned of severe action if they do not reside at the place of posting. A decision to this effect was taken at the 4th standing committee meeting of the Zilla Parishad here on Friday. Chairperson B. Appala Naidu asked District Medical and Health Officer Ch. Mahesh to order a departmental inquiry into the habitual absentees of doctors in PHCs and also those who were not residing at place of posting. As the medical staff was receiving house rent allowance, legal action could be taken against them, he asserted. The Chairperson also asked the DMHO to take hospital advisory committee reports into consideration. Dr. Mahesh informed him that doctors and ANMs were given time till December-end. If they failed to adhere to his instructions, action would be taken against them, he added. Following a complaint from TDP ZPTC M. Krishnamurty Naidu that a number of people were suffering from TB at Gedelapeta hamlet under Galavalli panchayat in Balijipeta mandal, the Chairperson asked the DMHO to take action. He was also informed that five more Integrated Counselling and Testing Centres (ICTC) were sanctioned.
