VISAKHAPATNAM: Here is a golden opportunity for bright students who have completed their B.E., B. Tech or Masters in Computer Science Engineering or final year students to do the two-year European Masters Programme in Software Engineering from Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden. There are about 30 scholarships for non-European students selected for the programme. Announcing this at a media conference on Friday, the institute’s Programme Manager Richard Torkar said that the master’s programme was being offered under the European Union Commission Initiative Programme under Erasmus Mundas Programme. Students from non-European countries selected for the programme would be eligible for a grant of $ 2,000 per month that covers the entire tuition fee and living expenses for the 24-month period. The grant would be paid even during vacation. Blekinge Institute, established by the Government of Sweden, is rated among the top 10 universities in the world in software engineering. Students would have the option of studying at one university during the first year and at any of the three other leading universities in the consortium in Sweden, Germany, Spain and Italy during the second year. They would be offered a double degree by the institutes where they had studied. Dr. Torkar said that foreign students, who pass out of the course, would be eligible for ‘blue card’ that entitles them to a job in Europe. He said that Erasmus Mundus Programmes were integrated study courses at the Masters-level designed to promote Europe as a centre of excellence in higher education. The institute’s International Project Coordinator Gurudutt Kumar Velpula said that the Swedish National Version of Masters of Software Engineering was being offered through double degree masters programme in software engineering by Andhra University and at JNTU, Hyderabad. Students seeking admissions should have passed B.E., B.Tech or other equivalent examination. Final year students can also apply. Those who have done their higher education in English Medium are exempted from TOEFL and IELTS. The last date for receipt of applications online is November 30.
