VISAKHAPATNAM: The local Group Headquarters of NCC would celebrate the 60th NCC Day at the Police Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday morning, Group Commander A.S. Baghel informed the reporters at a press conference held here on Friday. ‘Run and fun’The NCC Week celebrations commenced with a ‘Run for Fun’ on the Beach Road on Thursday morning in which NCC officers of various cadre, civilian staff and 200 NCC cadets, including some from other States participated. Meanwhile, the NCC cadets were also scheduled to visit Lebenshilfe, a NGO, which runs a home for the mentally challenged on Friday. ParadeThe NCC Day ceremonial parade would be held at the Police Stadium on Sunday morning. Commanding Officer of INS Eksila, S.P.S. Bhatti, would review the NCC parade. Some 200 NCC cadets belonging to Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NCC would take part in the parade. The cadets would also present a cultural programme and take a pledge to eradicate dowry and corruption from society. Models of aircrafts and ships would be displayed and cadets would stage a live demonstration of a platoon-level attack on an enemy bunker, Captain Baghel said. A Barakhana is being arranged for the NCC officers and cadets from various schools and colleges at the NCC unit in Andhra University Engineering College (AUCE) on November 24 and the NCC Week celebrations would conclude with a dinner hosted by the NCC officers on November 28 to which many civil and Naval officers were invited.
