Special Correspondent
THANJAVUR: Collector M. S. Shanmugham has appealed to people below poverty line in the district to utilise the opportunity provided by State and Central Governments under total sanitation programme and construct toilets in their houses.
In a press release issued here on Friday, the Collector said that with a view to help people below poverty line, State and Central Governments had increased the incentive amount given for constructing toilets from Rs. 1,200 to Rs. 2,200 from April 1, 2008.
People could approach the panchayat presidents or taluk development officers, the Collector said.
