Bangalore: Brent Hurd (38), a Fulbright scholar and visiting professor at the Indian Institute of Journalism and New Media died in a tragic accident near Kumbalgodu on Mysore road on Saturday. Prof. Hurd, who was riding a bicycle on the Mysore road (near Ramohalli cross) was knocked down by a city bus. He was rushed to the Rajarajeshwari Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A much-travelled film documentary maker, Prof. Hurd joined IIJNM in July to teach video journalism and documentary. He had just finished teaching a summer semester graduate class in documentary film at American University, in Washington D.C. During 2007 and 2008, he worked eight months in Azerbaijan as a Fulbright scholar, lecturing at Baku State University. Prof. Brent Alan Hurd was born in Delaware in July 19, 1970 and grew up in Texas. He is survived by his parents, a brother and two sisters. A memorial service will be held at the school on Monday . After that, his body will be transported to the U.S.
