3 held for ‘possessing firearm illegally’

HYDERABAD: An agriculturist and two of his friends, who allegedly helped him procure a country-made revolver illegally, were arrested by the Kukatpally police on Monday. The firearm and 10 live rounds were seized from the trio Venkatramana Reddy of Vanasthalipuram and Arun Singh and Farooq, both from Chandrayanagutta.

Reddy married a woman after falling in love with her. Since he feared threat to his life from his in-laws, he decided to get a weapon and asked Sing and Farooq to arrange it and gave them Rs. 15,000.

On a tip-off, the Kukatpally police raided their friends’ house and picked up the trio.
