Government dismisses charges against Mylarappa

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The Government has dismissed the charges of misappropriation of funds levelled against B.C. Mylarappa, former Director of Correspondence Courses and Distance Education Centre, Bangalore University.

According to a Government Order on Monday, the decision of the Bangalore University Syndicate to hand over the case to the Corps of Detectives for further investigation and extension of his suspension pending enquiry have both been dissolved.

The order says that the Government has the authority to quash the decision of the university syndicate under sections of the Karnataka State Universities Act 2000.

The order said that allegations with regard to misappropriation of funds that included non-deposit of 46 demand drafts for Rs. 19.58 lakh and not furnishing the exact details of the foreign tour by Mr. Mylarappa were baseless. It said that he had deposited the demand drafts in the university account at the Nagarbhavi branch of State Bank of Mysore between August 19, 2005 and November 11, 2005. In the order, the Government has said that the Syndicate took the decision to suspend Mylarappa unilaterally.
