Free training for farmers
Correspondent
MAHABUBNAGAR: The Action for Food Production (AFPRO) Society after training nearly 1,000 farmers in Kothur and Srirangapur villages to strengthen and adapt to climate changes for better productivity, is now planning to replicate the project in other villages of the district.
Under the Vulnerability, Assessment and Adaptation to Climate Change Project, AFPRO provided free training to the farmers in water management, land improvement and energy utilization for increased productivity.
New cultivation methods using less water, minimum pesticides and optimum utilization of ground water were taught to farmers since 2004, AFPRO Executive Director, D.K. Manavalan told The Hindu here on Tuesday.
The project was taken up in 2,400 acres of Kothur and 4,000 acres of Srirangapur villages.
