This Day That Age
Addressing the students of the Automobile Engineering Section of Sri Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, Mylapore, on November 24, Mr. Bishnuram Medhi, Governor of Madras, called for the establishment of more technical institutions in the country and advised the students to acquire a basic technical knowledge for achieving material prosperity. He also observed that in the technical field, they in India were far behind other advanced countries and as a matter of fact many of the developmental plans which the administrators had undertaken had to be delayed for want of a sufficient number of trained technical personnel. Mr. Medhi said, “We are living in an atomic age and when other countries are far ahead of us in the manufacture of motor cars and fast moving planes, there is necessity to train our youngsters in the technical line of education as the future well-being depends on them.”
