VIJAYAWADA: Uttarakhand paddlers created a flutter defeating the top seed Petroleum Sports Promotion Board Academy (PSPBA) 3-2 in a Group ‘A’ encounter of the cadet boys’ team championship in the 70th sub-junior inter-State table tennis championship here on Tuesday. With both teams locked two-all, Uttarakhand’s Suraj Rana, playing the second reverse single, defeated Rahul 11-9, 10-12, 11-1, 11-4 to give his team a memorable victory. The day also witnessed a couple of matches going the full distance in all four segments. In the sub-junior girls’ segment, Uttar Pradesh scored a 3-2 win over Tripura, while Gujarat outplayed AP 3-2 in the sub-junior boys’ category. In the cadet girls’ section, Meghalaya defeated Goa 3-2.
