IN FULL FLOW: Baroda’s Connor Williams came up with a captain’s knock to thwart Karnataka on Tuesday. Chennai: Saurashtra secured a massive 429-run lead over Mumbai on the third day of their Ranji Trophy super league match at Rajkot. Replying to the host’s 643 for four declared, Mumbai was bowled out for 214 on Tuesday. Debutant paceman Balakrishna Jadeja claimed four for 41. Off-spinner Kamlesh Makvana and left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets each. But for a determined 56 by No. 10 Usman Malvi, Mumbai’s plight would have been worse; the team was reeling at 142 for nine. Hiken Shah made 47 and Sairaj Bahutule, 42. Delhi concedes leadHolder Delhi conceded the first innings lead to Gujarat at Valsad. Despite fighting efforts from debutant Yogesh Nagar (79) and Sumit Narwal (48), Delhi — dismissed for 314 — ended up short of Gujarat’s 350. Off-spinner Mohnish Parmar scalped four. The host was 76 for one in its second innings at stumps, Priyank Panchal on 42. Rajasthan, in trouble at 93 for three, recovered well to end the day at 267 for three against host Hyderabad. Robin Bisht (86 batting) and Rajesh Bishnoi (93 batting) held firm for Rajasthan in a pressure situation. Hyderabad had declared at 553 for six. In Bangalore, opener Connor Williams (97 batting) fought hard for Baroda in its second innings. Baroda trails Karnataka by 226 runs in the first innings. Earlier, Karnataka stretched its total to 395; B. Akhil scored 66 down the order. Mohanty scalps fourExperienced Orissa paceman Debasis Mohanty snared four batsmen but Punjab — shot out for 60 in its first innings — offered more resistance in the second essay in Bhubaneshwar. Wicket-keeper batsman Uday Kaul (50 batting) and Ankur Kakkar (77 batting) took the score from 141 for five to 256 at stumps. Opener Karan Goel contributed 58. Railways moved towards a win over Andhra in Delhi. Thanks to valuable efforts from Raja Ali (39) and Murali Kartik (22), Railways secured a hard-fought 19-run lead. The host then bundled out Andhra for 108 in its second innings. Paceman Anureet Singh and off-spinner Kulamani Parida combined to share eight wickets between them. Railways, requiring 90 for an outright victory, was 53 for two at stumps. Despite a five-wicket haul by paceman Samad Fallad, Uttar Pradesh gained a 94-run first-innings advantage over Maharashtra at Kanpur.
